What makes us unique?
ACADEMICS: Any other programs in the Detroit area, (and even most others, regardless of location) that are in existence or in the process of coming together that are remotely similar to Rolston’s Hockey Academy--blending hockey and academics together--offer only a “virtual” academic program (meaning an online learning program). With RHA academic administrator and certified teacher Rolston’s Hockey Academy is the only program in the state that offers a traditional, certified teacher-based program school-aged children, and one of the few that has a certified teacher overseeing the virtual portion of the high school component.
Students throughout Michigan are thriving at Michigan Connections Academy (MICA), a tuition-free online public school, also known as a Michigan virtual school or cyber charter school. MICA gives K–12 students the flexibility to learn at home with a curriculum that meets rigorous state education standards. Our mission is to help each student maximize his or her potential and meet the highest performance standards through a uniquely individualized learning program, featuring:
A challenging, K–12 curriculum developed by leading education experts. Instruction from state-certified teachers recognized as highly qualified under the No Child Left Behind Act. Support from trained counselors, principals, and administrative staff. Curriculum materials needed to participate in a dynamic online learning environment.
